Inscription on the tombstone: Sacred to the memory of Dr. Samuel A. Mudd. Died January 10, 1883, aged 48 years. Note in the barn: This is Dr. Samuel A. Mudd's original tombstone. A new tombstone for Dr. and Mrs. Mudd was placed on their burial ground at St. Mary's Church, Bryantown, MD in 1940.
