1. Hook Family Marker
Inscription.  William Hook came to the California gold country in 1850 to sell mining equipment and build mining machinery. In 1853 Hook opened a general store at the corner of Ferry and Main Streets in Martinez. Over the years Hook brought up land in Contra Costa County until he owned almost 3,000 acres.
 
Erected 1998 by Martinez Historical Society and E Clampus Vitus, Joaquin Murrieta Chapter No. 13.
