Inscription. During the American Revolution, General Marion and his Militia needed help from local farmers for food, horses and medical care for wounds and diseases.

Those shot or sick were left at the mercy of comrades and sympathy of Patriots. Medical care was basic, crude and herbal. Here the Militia is along the River Road for the Bridges Campaign. The “Swamp Fox” had his brave Patriots put vinegar in their water and they had less illnesses than others. Find the Fox.

Additional commentary.
1. "Find the Fox".
Related to the last sentence on the marker, each mural of The Swamp Fox Mural Trail has a fox hidden within the mural. The moniker "Swamp Fox" was given to Francis Marion by British Lt. Col. Banastre Tarleton, who was frustrated in his attempts to catch Marion. In this mural, the fox is in the left panel.
