These trees are sentinels planted to provide cooling shade from the heat, shelter from the storm, and visible reminders of the dedicated vigilance of the men and women who have served their country in the armed forces. The live oak trees lining Veterans Drive were purchased in honor or memory of these veterans.[List of names follow]
