1. Slim Harpo Marker

Inscription. Louisiana native, James Moore, was considered the point man of the 1950's Swamp Blues movement. Dubbed Slim Harpo by his wife, he sang in a laid-back style and was a master of the blues harmonica. Although he started out playing juke joints, parties and picnics as a teenager, Slim eventually enjoyed national success with a string of popular R&B hits while recording for Excello Records, including "Baby, Scratch My Back," "Rainin' in My Heart," "Buzzin'," and "Little Queen Bee." As proof of his mass appeal, many of his songs were adapted by country, Cajun, and rock & roll musicians such as the Rolling Stones and The Yardbirds.
