Inscription.  Here at George Washington Birthplace National Monument, discover the land that began Washington’s journey from English citizen to the first President of the United States. Today, visitors can follow in Washington’s footsteps on the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail network.

This extensive network of land and water trails stretches between the mouth of the Potomac River and the Allegheny Highlands, leading through the landscape of Washington’s life and his dreams for the nation’s future.
