Inscription. Granite is an Igneous rock and is known for being extremely durable and hard. In the early 1900's this site was used to harvet granite for the main lodge's foundation and entrance signs for the Polar Caves. You can see examples of where the granite was broken using the technique of Feather and Wedges, a technique we still use today when we take boulders out of the caves.

Erected by Polar Caves Park.
