Head Coach Bernie Moore

LSU great Abe Mickal and freshman sensation Gaynell "Gus" Tinsley led the 1935 Tigers to an undefeated SEC record. LSU fell to Rice in the season opener but did not lose again in the regular season. Non-conference wins included victories against Manhattan in New York City and Arkansas in Shreveport before opening the SEC season with a win at Vanderbilt. The Tigers won a close one against Auburn, but dominated their opponents the rest of the way, recording convincing shutouts in the final three games. LSU's first SEC championship team made its first bowl appearance against Sammy Baugh's TCU in the Sugar Bowl. The Tigers finished as high as No. 4 in final national polls, but took national championship honors in the Williamson poll.
