Inscription.
In the south, the best surviving
concentration of nineteenth century
hydro-mechanical and electrical
engineering systems relating to grist
and textile mills is located along
this river. In 1978, the U.S. Department
ov the Interior declared the
Historic Riverfront Industrial
District, made up of the following
industries, a national historic
landmark: Columbus Iron Works (1853),
Eagle & Phenix (1851) and Muscogee
(1868) Mills, City Mills (1828), and
Bibb Mill (1899).

 
Erected 1983.
 
Location. 32° 27.45′ N, 84° 59.713′ W. Marker is in Columbus, Georgia, in Muscogee County. Marker can be reached from Front Avenue north of West 6th Avenue. Touch for map.
