Campeche in 1772 and came to Mérida with her father, Don Pedro, when he was named “Factor del Tabaco”. And what is undoubtedly most significant about this period was that Mrs. Escudero was the hostess of numerous meetings for the representatives of the conservative party while the opposite party held its meeting across the street at the home of Mrs. Joaquin Cano y Roo.

In 1956 Mr. Antonio Mimenza Ortiz opened the “Hotel Sevilla”, which operated until the end of the 20th century.
