Ayn Rand 1905-1982
Rand is known for her two best-selling novels, The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, and Developing a Philosophical System called Objectivism.
Atlas Shrugged was consisted her greatest achievement and illustrates that without the efforts of the rational and productive, the economy would collapse, and the society would fall apart.
This work expresses her concept of human achievement and advocates her philosophy of objectivism, which she describes as, "The concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute."

Also see . . . Philosopher. For Rand, philosophy is not an esoteric subject but a daily force shaping individual lives and human history. You must have some view of the kind of world you live in, of how best to understand and deal with it, and of what to aim at in life. Your only choice is whether your philosophical premises are acquired by your own independent thinking or absorbed unquestioningly from those around you.
