Dans la nuit du 29 mai 1914, un dense brouillard étouffe le son de la cloche de brume de l'Empress of Ireland. Quatorze minutes plus tard, le fleuve glacial engloutit le navire et 1012 de ses passages. À partir d'éléments architecturaux et ornementaux inspirés du navire, l'œuvre compose une symphonie onirique qui commémore la tragédie.
