Inscription.  This tablet commemorates the hundredth anniversary of New York State's Forest Preserve. The surrounding mountains, streams, and woodlands remain a legacy from the past protected by the constitution of New York State. They represent a heritage for future generations.
 
Erected 1985 by Environmental Conservation Department, State of New York.
 
Location. 42° 9.304′ N, 74° 12.331′ W. Marker is in Elka Park, New York, in Greene County. Marker is on New York State Route 214, on the right when traveling north.
