Regarding The Soldiers Monument of Quetzaltenango. The monument and graves give tribute to the Revolution of 1897, when Quetzaltenango rose up against the anti-democratic abuses of Guatemalan President José María Reyna Barrios. The revolution was put down and the leaders, including the three men buried here at the monument, were shot by firing squad or killed in battle.
