1. Welcome to the Cotswald Overlook Marker
Inscription. This lovely land, acquired by William and Mary J. Burchenal in 1936, was a 360-acre working farm. Black Angus cattle grazed in the pasture below and corn and soybeans were grown in the fields beyond. Across the creek were hay fields and an apple orchard. The farm got its name from the rolling hills of England's Cotswold region that the Burchenal's so loved. Upon her death in 1993, Mrs. Mary J. Burchenal bequeathed the residence and over 11 acres to the Hamilton County Park District. As a result of her foresight and generosity and with the support of her family, the Park District later acquired an additional 238 acres of the farm. The Hamilton County Park District created these gardens and trails for the public's enjoyment. You are invited to explore this land''s beauty, enjoy its grand vistas and seek out its hidden treasure.
