Nació el 14 de Noviembre 1816. Militar de carrera, se incorporó al Ejército en 1850. Combatió a las tropas invasoras Norteamericanas en la Hacienda San Jacinto. Coordinó acciones de combate con los indios flecheros de Matagalpa. Aparece suscribiendo el Acta del Cabildo Abierto del 1 de Abril de 1887, solicitando al Gobierno Central la creación del Departamento de Jinotega, la cual se llevó a efecto un año después de su muerte. En 1889 el Congreso Nacional reconociendo su participación y patriotismo le confirió el gradoude General de Brigada. Muere el 25 de Abril 1890 a los 76 años de edad, se le rindieron honores como Héroe Nacional.

Born on November 14, 1816. Starting his military career, he joined the Army in 1850. He fought the troops of the American invaders at Hacienda San Jacinto. the Central Government to create the Department of Jinotega, which was carried out one year after his death. In 1889 the National Congress, recognizing his participation and patriotism, is granted the rank of Brigadier General. He dies on April 25, 1890 at 76 years of age, honored as a National Hero.
