Regarding In Memory of Two Banana Farmers Killed. A trade dispute between the US and the European Union in 1993 ended up reducing the special export relationship that Caribbean bananas had with most of Europe and the UK. This dispute eventually went to the WTO and was decided in favor of the US, greatly reducing the market and prices of Caribbean bananas. A series of protests in 1993 in St. Lucia culminated with the shooting of these two men by police.

Note that the marker has some spelling errors: Rendy is probably Randy Joseph. His birth year is not 1993. "Saluation" should be "Salvation" in the name of the erecting organization.
