1. Henry's Call to Arms Marker

Inscription. One mile east on the river was Newcastle. There, on May 2, 1775, Patrick Henry put himself at the head of the Hanover volunteers and marched against the royal governor, Lord Dunmore, who had seized the colony's powder.

Erected 1927 by Conservation & Development Commission. (Marker Number O-15.)
