1. Packer Mansion Marker
Inscription. Standing on the nearby hill is the home of Asa Packer, industrialist, philanthropist, congressman and founder of Lehigh University. The ornate mansion, built in 1860, has been carefully preserved with its original furnishings and is maintained as a memorial.
 
Erected 1971 by Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.

Location. 40° 51.796′ N, 75° 44.264′ W. Marker is in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, in Carbon County. The building in the background, built in 1887 as a depot and freight station for the Central Railroad of New Jersey, still displays the original name of the town, Mauch Chunk.
