1. The Rough Riders Rode By Here 1898 Marker
Inscription. The intersection of Seventh Avenue and Twentysecond Street was a sandy cross-road connecting three army encampments in the Ybor City area during the Spanish-American War.

At this cross-road was located a water-trough where the Rough Riders watered their mounts.

Col. "Teddy" Roosevelt frequently rode by here on his horse "Texas," followed by this little dog, "Cuba."

 
Erected 1981 by The Columbia Restaurant, through a project of the Ybor City Rotary Club.
 
Location. 27° 57.611′ N, 82° 26.105′ W. Marker is in Tampa, Florida, in Hillsborough County. Marker is on East 7th Avenue (La SÚptima) west of North 22nd Street, on the right when traveling east. Touch for map. Marker is in this post office area: Tampa FL 33605, United States of America.
