1. Original Garrett House Marker
Inscription. In 1830, John and Polly Garrett constructed this small log home, which is one of the earliest structures in the district. They lived in this house for five years while they were building the large two-story house behind you. This house served as a kitchen for thirty years thereafter.
 
Location. 35° 59.331′ N, 79° 26.809′ W. Marker is in Burlington, North Carolina, in Alamance County. Marker can be reached from R. Dean Coleman Road. Touch for map. The historic farm is located at Cedarock Park. From interstate 40/85, take exit 145. Travel 6 miles on NC Highway 49 South. Turn left onto Friendship Patterson Mill Road & then left onto R.
