1. Nevada Hose Co. No. 1 Marker
Inscription. Nevada Hose Co. No. 1 occupied this firehouse from May 30, 1861 to 1938. Hand pulled hose carts, horse drawn engines and motorized pumpers all rolled out of this building to save life and property.
 
Erected 1965 by Wm. Bull Meek-Wm. Morris Stewart Chapter 10, E Clampus Vitus.

Doris was a charter member of the Nevada County Historical Society and led the drive that established a museum here at the Nevada Hose Company No. 1 Firehouse. A school teacher and respected writer, she chronicled local history and spearheaded creation of the Searls Historical Library on Church Street.
