Inscription. This 37 acre area of virgin hemlock and white pine has trees estimated to be 300+ years old and is the last stand of its kind in Maryland. Designated as a sensitive management area, cutting and development are restricted to a minimum.
 
Location. 39° 30.042′ N, 79° 25.026′ W. Marker is in Oakland, Maryland, in Garrett County. Marker is on Maple Grove Road. Touch for map. Marker is in this post office area: Oakland MD 21550, United States of America.
