1. Orton Marker
Inscription. Fine colonial home. Built about 1725 by Roger Moore. Later Gov. Benjamin Smith’s home. Stands 16¾ mi. south.
 
Erected 1936 by Department of Conservation and Development. (Marker Number D-3.)

Regarding Orton. Orton Plantation and gardens is open to the public with an entrance fee. It is at 9149 Orton Road SE Winnabow, NC 28479. Orton Plantation is located on NC Highway 133, 18 miles south of Wilmington, and 10 miles north of Southport.
