Inscription. The land encompassing this marker has been in the continuous possession of the Muse family since September 16, 1668.

Possession has been handed down through the toils of the descendants of the founding father of the Muse family in America.
 
Erected 1974 by Muse Reunion Association.
 
Location. 38° 11.775′ N, 76° 55.114′ W. Marker is near Oak Grove, Virginia, in Westmoreland County. Marker can be reached from Bridges Creek Road 0.7 miles north of Popes Creek Road (State Route 204). Touch for map. This marker is on private property but can be seen from the road which is the driveway for the property that runs through the George Washington Birthplace National Monument. The property is surrounded by the property currently owned by Larry A. Muse, a direct descendant of John Muse, and Mr. Muse's property is surrounded by the grounds of the National Monument. Marker is at or near this postal address: 530 Bridges Creek Road, Colonial Beach VA 22443, United States of America.
