Inscription.

John Wayne's father, Clyde Morrison, worked for Smith Drug Store in this building around 1905-1910. Earlier records indicate the building housed a harness shop, a hardware store and a tin shop as well.

In 1916, a jewelry store occupied this structure. Movies were shown here in the mid-1920s. By 1947, R. M. Harrison Co. operated a variety store in this building. In the early 1950s the Harrison store traded locations with the Woody-Thompson shoe store two buildings to the west.

In 1959, Bob Walters joined Ralph Thompson and this store became Thompson and Walters Shoes. Walters purchased this building in 1979 and changed the name of the shoe store to Village Bootery. From 1991 to 1993, "Bud" Hendricks operated the business. Terri and Terry Kuhns acquired the business in 1993, and added new signage and stone to the storefront in 2005. Second Hand Rose, a consignment shop, occupies the lower level.
