1. Schofield's Withdrawal Marker
Inscription. Moving from this area, Cox's Division led Stanley's XXIII Corps in a rapid retreat to Columbia. They arrived in time to prevent Forrest's Cavalry Corps, which had run over Union cavalry outposting the town, from seizing the bridge over Duck River and cutting off Schofield's retreat from Nashville.

Location. 35° 22.498′ N, 87° 2.016′ W. Marker is in Waco, Tennessee, in Giles County. Marker is at the intersection of Columbia Highway (U.S. 31) and 2nd Waco Street, on the left when traveling north on Columbia Highway. Touch for map.
