1. Barren County, 1798 Marker
Inscription. Taken from parts of Green and Warren counties. Glasgow, county seat, was founded in 1799. County received name from the “barrens” or prairies of this region.
     Early explorers and settlers came through this area. In Civil War, first two of Morgan’s Raids moved through here, 1862. The CSA invasion of Kentucky under Gen. Braxton Bragg entered here, 1862.
 
Erected 1969 by Kentucky Historical Society and Kentucky Department of Highways. (Marker Number 1255.)

Location. 36° 59.75′ N, 85° 54.732′ W. Marker is in Glasgow, Kentucky, in Barren County. Marker is at the intersection of Green Street and Main Street, on the left when traveling north on Green Street. Touch for map.
