Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park
Included among the legislation were bills to ensure clean air and protect water quality. Laws governing waste disposal and pesticide use were put into effect. Protection for endangered animals was initiated. Wilderness area and a national trails system were created. Nearly 50 new national park areas were added and existing ones expanded, ensuring that many more Americans would have the opportunity to enjoy the natural, historic, and cultural beauty of the nation.
