Battery B.
1st Ohio Light Artillery.

Cruft's Brigade.
Palmer's Division.
21st Army Corps.

Text on the Back Side of the Monument:

This Battery, 1st Lieutenant Norman A. Baldwin commanding, was engaged with its Brigade near South end of Brock Field, from 12:30 to 3:00 P.M. September 19th, 1863. At 5:30 P.M. it went into action a little North-east of Poe House, and assisted in the repulse of the troops that had crossed the Rossville Road.

September 20th, 1863, occupied this position throughout the battle. Number engaged 2 Officers, 126 Men. Loss, Killed 1: Wounded 8: Missing 4, Horses disabled and killed 13. Guns disabled and abandoned 2. Rounds fired 1145.

This Battery was organized by Captain William E. Standart. Mustered in at Cincinnati, October 1861. Re-enlisted January 1864. Mustered out at Cleveland, Ohio, July 22, 1865.

Road, on the right when traveling south. Touch for map. This monument is located in the national park that preserves the site of the Chickamauga Battlefield, The monument is located about two thirds of the way through the long line of mostly Union monuments, markers, and tablets that are situated along the length of the park's Battleline Road. According to the location information provided by the National Park Service the, “Monument is located along Battleline Road in the Chickamauga Battlefield at map site #122”. Marker is in this post office area: Fort Oglethorpe GA 30742, United States of America.

to the description information provided by the National Park Service, the monument is, “5' x 3' x 10', the monument is a single curved-top block on a rectangular base. Front of block has relief sculpture of artilleryman with sponge and raised lettering above; rear has state seal. Marks unit's position east of Kelly Field.”

The National Park Service also identifies C. H. Niehaus as being the sculptor of this monument.

I used the "Chickamauga Battlefield" map, that I purchased at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Visitor Center, to determine both the marker number for this monument and the monument's location in relation to the rest of the park's monuments, markers, and tablets. According to the map it provides the, "numerical listing of all monuments, markers, and tablets on the Chickamauga Battlefield (using the Chick-Chatt NMP Monument Numbering System).”
