Inscription.  
Van alle Joodse inwoners van Valkenburg werd meer dan de helft (42) gedeporteerd en vermoord in de vernietigingskampen. Zij die wisten onder te duiken overleefden de oorlog. Wanneer men een oproep kreeg om zich te melden voor tewerkstelling in Duitsland moest men zich op de betreffende dag melden in Hotel Tummers tegenover het station van Valkenburg. Bestemming was het station Hooghalen in Drenthe, vlakbij Kamp Westerbork. Het treinkaartje moest men zelf betalen. Van de Valkenburgse Joden werden de meesten op 25 augustus 1942 en 11 mei 1943 opgeroepen voor transport.

(English translation:)
More than half (42) of all Jewish residents of Valkenburg were deported and murdered in the extermination camps. Those who managed to go into hiding survived the war. When one received a call to report for employment in Germany, one had to report on the day in question at the Hotel Tummers opposite the Valkenburg station. Destination was Hooghalen station in Drenthe, near Camp Westerbork. One had to pay for one‘s own train ticket. Most of the Valkenburg Jews were called up for transport on August 25, 1942 and
