Historic Cabin. . This log structure was constructed in 1871 for the Herman Luce family. One of the three original homesteaders in this area, Herman Luce contributed to the establishment of Lake County. The log structure housed many families over the years, and stands as a reminder of the strength and perseverance of the pioneers. The cemetery behind the cabin is the burial site for four Luce family members: Mrs. Mary Luce, who died of serious burns; Mary's brother, who died in a blizzard; Mary's mother; and one daughter who died of chicken pox at age 8.
