Palacio Municipal Patrimonio de la Nación. Edificado en donde estuvo la plataforma de un edificio prehispánico conocido como Backluumchaan desde la fundación de la ciudad española, el Palacio Municipal tal y como se aprecia, tiene su origen en una construcción de dos niveles con corredores y arquerías edificada en la colonia, y que ha tenido varias modificaciones. En este sitio se concretó la independencia de Yucatán de la Corona Española, así como su anexión a México., English:
Municipal Palace National Heritage. Built over the former platform of a pre-Hispanic construction known as Backluumchaan, the Municipal Palace evolved form (sic) a construction of two levels with hallways and arches built during Colonial times. This building has been modified several times and it was the place where the independence of Yucatan from the Spanish Crown was concreted, and its annexation to Mexico was established., Maya-Yucateco:
