La « grève du Nord », porte d'entrée / The "North Shore" gateway
Une Promenade à fleur d'eau / A Walk on the Water

Before the 1950s, the shore that we walked was two meters lower!
The family of Lord François de Chavigny and Eleonore de Grandmaison probably landed here in the spring of 1648 and settled on the nearby height (the current Gourdeau mansion).
Until the construction of a wharf in 1855 south of the point, flat-bottomed boats took advantage of the lower tide to settle on the rocky bottom. Then, transshipped in dumpers, their
cargo supplied the inhabitants of the island.
