1. Ninth Michigan Battery Monument

The battery monument carries a lot of symbolism on the front. A rammer is crossed with a battery guide-on, over an artillery wheel. Cannon balls hold the wheel in place. A kepi is placed atop the wheel. At the very top of the monument is a flash with crossed cannons.

from 12-30 p.m. July 3 until 7 a.m.
the following morning.

and canister expended.

Casualties
One man killed and four wounded.

Battery sustained a loss of 23 horses
killed in this engagement.

4. Ninth Michigan Battery Position

Left and right flank marker stones along Hancock Avenue indicate the approximate position of the battery on July 3. Two 10-pounder Parrott rifles represent the battery. The gun on the right is an authentic 3-inch Parrott produced in 1863 (registry number 14). On the left is a reproduction produced for the Battlefield Commission in the 1890s.
