This Brigade became engaged here about 12.30 p.m. April 6, 1862. It advanced across the field to north east corner about 2.30 p.m. The 19th Tenn. was detached to lick creek in the morning. It returned about 2 o'clock and joined Stephens' Brigade in charge across this field.

3. 12-pdr Model 1841 Field Howizter
This howitzer was produced in 1853 by Ames Manufacturing of Massachusetts. It weighed 788 pounds when inspected by James W. Ripley. The registry number 113 is on the muzzle.

4. James 3.80-inch Rifle, Type 2, Series 2
Inscription on the James Rifle at the position. The main difference between the different series of James Type 2 rifles is simply the inscriptions. This piece has markings on the top - "James Rifle Cannon // Manufactured by // Ames Mfg. Co. // Chickopee // Mass // 1861". This particular piece has a weight stamp of 912 (pounds) but no "U.S." acceptance marks.

5. Statham's Brigade Advance
Looking across Sarah Bell's Cotton Field at the Peach Orchard. Statham's brigade advanced across this field around 2:30 p.m. on April 6, 1862 and reached the far northeast side (distant right). The bloody pond is beyond the far tree line in that sector.
