Location. 35° 2.344′ N, 85° 16.473′ W. Marker is in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in Hamilton County. It is in Orchard Knob. Memorial is on Hawthorne Street north of Ivy Street, on the right when traveling north. This historical marker is located in the middle of a residential neighborhood, in the city of Chattanooga, a little less than a mile west of Missionary Ridge. It is situated on the western edge of the Orchard Knob Reservation, National Military Park and is positioned directly across the street from a residence located at 253 Hawthorne Street. According to the description provided by National Park Service, the monument is, "9' x 6' x 9', four-part monument has rock faced-base; battered pedestal with relief of crossed rifles; smooth-faced lettered shaft; and rock-faced crown with battlements, topped by a hipped cap. Stars in relief on sides."
