1. Wm. Wells 1770 - 1812 Marker
Inscription. Miami captive at 14; adopted by Little Turtle; appointed chief scout by Wayne in 1793; granted farm near Ft. Wayne by Congress for "valiant and conspicuous service." Died in Ft. Dearborn Massacre.

More about this marker. The marker does not appear to be in its original location. When I visited in August 2012, the museum staff did not know how or why the marker was located at the Thomas R. Marshall home.
