Inscription. On this site a log cabin with stone foundation was built for St. Philippine Duchesne and two other nuns. The work was done by the Pottawatomie Indians under the directions of black master carpenter Edmund who had accompanied the nuns to Kansas from St. Charles Mo. The cabin was 19'x 19' and was used as a school room for Indian girls. The loft served as a sleeping area for the nuns.
