Col. Emerson Opdycke colonel of this regiment, being assigned to the command of half the brigade, Capt. Bates was given command of his regiment. It took part with its brigade in the preliminary movements of Nov. 23, and in the assault on Missionary Ridge, reaching the crest in this vicinity, and participating in the capture of guns near Bragg's headquarters. The regiment at once joined in the pursuit and became engaged at the next ridge to the east, during the night it followed to Bird's Mill on the Chickamauga, strength in action: 11 Officers, 250 Men.
Casualties: Killed, 2 Men; Wounded, 1 Officers, 26 Men; Total 29.

Marker is on South Crest Road south of East Main Street, on the left when traveling south. This marker is located on Missionary Ridge, in the Bragg Reservation. Once you have entered the Bragg Reservation, go to the extreme northern end of the park to find this marker, which is just off of what was once the old Ridge Road that use to run through the center of the park.
