1. The “Hup” Marker
Inscription. On a Thursday, May 14, 1914 the first day of operations the men made $11.50. The second day they cleared $7.50. Three days later on a Saturday, they made $20.00 after expenses. The birth of a transportation system was started. They named it “Hibbing Transportation Co.” and the “hup” that would grown into the Greyhound Bus Co. “Sign on the bus” Hibbing to Alice $.15 (Inscription on the image at the top) Hibbing, Birthplace of the Bus Industry.
