1. Industrial District Marker
Inscription. In the south, the best surviving concentration of nineteenth century hydro-mechanical and electrical engineering systems relating to grist and textile mills is located along this river. In 1978, the U.S. Department of the Interior declared the Historic Riverfront Industrial District, made up of the following industries, a national historic landmark: Columbus Iron Works (1853), Eagle & Phenix (1851) and Muscogee (1868) Mills, City Mills (1828), and Bibb Mill (1899).
