McCook's Brigade
Steedman's Division, Granger's Reserve Corps.
Colonel Daniel McCook.
September 19, 1863, 7 a.m.

85th Illinois, - Colonel Caleb J. Dilworth.
86th Illinois, - Lieutenant Colonel David W. Magee.
125th Illinois, - Colonel Oscar F. Harman.
52nd Ohio, - Major James T. Holmes.
2nd Illinois Light Artillery, Battery I, - Captain Charles M. Barnett.
69th Ohio, - Lieutenant Colonel Joseph H. Bingham. (Temporarily attached)

The afternoon of the 18th the Brigade marched from Rossville to support Minty's cavalry in disputing the passage of the Confederates at Reed's Bridge.

Arriving at this position just at dark the head of the column ran into the rear of McNair's Confederate Brigade passing up the Alexander's Bridge Road, capturing 22 prisoners.

During the night the Brigade was joined by Colonel Mitchell's Brigade. Before daylight the 69th Ohio was sent to capture Reed's Bridge, which had been taken by the Confederates the afternoon of the 18th. The Regiment charged across the bridge and set it on fire. At 7 a.m. on the 19th the brigade was ordered to return to Rossville.

sectionhead>More about this marker. I used the "Chickamauga Battlefield" map, that I purchased at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Visitor Center, to determine both the marker number for this tablet and the tablet's location in relation to the rest of the park's monuments, markers, and tablets. According to the map it provides the, "numerical listing of all monuments, markers, and tablets on the Chickamauga Battlefield (using the Chick-Chatt NMP Monument Numbering System).”
