The Bart J. Bok Telescope On 1996 Aril 28, the 90th anniversary of the birth of Bart J. Bok, fourth Director (1966-1970) of the Steward Observatory, this telescope was renamed in his honor. Dr. Bok’s enthusiastic leadership resulted in the construction and early operation of this facility, bring Steward Observatory into the forefront of international ground-based astronomy.
