Erected 1899 by the State of Illinois. (Marker Number MT-724.)

Location. 34° 54.046′ N, 85° 15.336′ W. Marker is in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, in Catoosa County. Memorial can be reached from Viniard Road east of Lafayette Road, on the right when traveling east. Parking is available in a gravel lot on the south side of Viniard Road (N 34° 54.0797 W 85° 15.3599). From the parking area on Viniard Road follow the path south. The path will fork, take the right (east) path. A second path will branch off to the right (east). Follow this path. This path is just before the plaque for Kelly's Brigade (CSA). Near the site of the Hall house, a path will be on your right. Follow this path to the marker for the 123rd Illinois Infantry. Touch for map.
