Regarding Ohio Eighty Third Infantry. This unit was known as the "Greyhounds" (see greyhound on monument) and attached to Brigadier General Stephen G. Burbridge's 1st Brigade, of Brigadier General Andrew J. Smith's 10th Division, Major Generals John A. McClernand's (relieved of command June 19th, 1863) and Edward O.C. Ord's XIII Army Corps, and commanded by Colonel Frederick W. Moore.
