Regarding Indiana Company C, 4th Cavalry.. This unit was attached as headquarters escort to Brigadier General Andrew J. Smith's 10th Division, Major General's John A. McClernand (relieved of command June 19, 1863) & Edward O.C. Ord's XIII Army Corps and was commanded by Captain Andrew P. Gallagher.
