Location. 18° 48.387′ N, 71° 13.609′ W. Memorial is in San Juan de la Maguana, San Juan. It is on Avenida Independencia just east of Calle Doctor Colσn, on the right when traveling west. The marker and obelisk are in the center of the Francisco del Rosario Sanchez Park in San Juan la Maguana. Touch for map. Regarding Francisco del Rosario Sanchez. Francisco del Rosario Sαnchez (b. March 9, 1817 - d. July 4, 1861) was a lawyer, politician and independence activist in the Dominican Republic. He is considered, along with Juan Pablo Duarte and Matνas Ramσn Mella, to be one of the Founding Fathers of the Dominican Republic. Sαnchez, leader and political strategist of the Dominican war against the Haitian occupation, took the reins of the independence fight after the absence of Duarte and proclaimed Dominican independence
