Finnbogason húsa-smíđameistari, rithöfundur og hugvitsmađur, fćddur 21. júlí 1911, dáinn 2. febrúar áriđ 1993. Eignuđust ţau átta börn og eru afkomendur ţeirra fjölmargir. Laufey lét mikiđ til sín taka í félagsmálum, hún var einn af stofnendum Kvennalistans og bar hag og réttindi kvenna fyrir brjósti i öllu sem hún tók sér fyrir hendur. Hún var heiđursfélagi í Dýraverndunarfélagi Íslands, sinnti málefnum aldrađra, var áhugasöm um friđun gamalla húsa og virk í Torfusamtökunum um tíma. Laufey skrifađi margar greinar í dagblöđ og tímarit og einnig liggur eftir hana fjöldi ljóđa. Bókin Lífsbók Laufeyjar, samtalsbók um ćvi hennar, kom út 1992. Laufey barđist ávallt fyrir rétti lítilmagnans og er hún ţekkt fyrir störf sín í ţágu unglinganna í miđborg Reykjavíkur og ţekktu hana margir sem „ömmuna í Grjótaţorpinu" vegna ţess. Laufey lést ţann 6. mars 2004. , , Laufey Jakobsdóttir, "the grandmother of Grjótaţorp (Grjóti Village)", Grjótagata 12 was the home of Laufey Jakobsdóttir, nicknamed "the grandmother of Grjótalţorp," from 1976 to 1995. Laufey was born on 25 September 1915 in Borgarfjörđur, east Iceland. Her husband was Magnús B. Finnbogason (1911-93), a master builder, writer and inventor. They had eight children and many descendants. Laufey was passionate about social issues: she was one of the found-ers of the feminist Women's Alliance, and placed priority on women's rights in all that she did. She was an honorary member of the animal protection association, an advocate for elderly care, and was interested in the preservation of historic buildings, an active member of the architectural conservation group Torfusamtökin. Laufey wrote many newspaper and magazine articles, as well as a large number of poems. A book based on interviews with her, Lífsbók Laufeyjar (The Book of Laufey's Life), was published in 1992. Laufey always fought for the rights of the disempowered, and she is renowned for her work with young people in the city centre, for which she became known as "the grandmother of Grjótaţorp." Among her achievements was the opening of a public toilet in Grjótaţorp, where she worked long hours into the nights, unpaid, so that the youngsters would have a safe haven. On 17 June 1996 she was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Icelandic Order of the Falcon. Laufey passed away 6 March 2004.
