The Brigade moving from Widow Glenn's occupied this position about 11 a.m. supporting Laiboldt's Brigade, which had charged forward to assist Davis' Division then heavily engaged in the woods beyond the foot of the slope near the road. The Union troops in front being overwhelmed were driven over this line, and while rallying his Brigade on this ground General Lytle was killed. The Brigade was subsequently forced entirely
